Business Continuity When The Unexpected Happens
Disasters are hard to predict. The only thing we know for sure is that the unexpected is going to happen whether you’re prepared or not. There are many reasons to get your Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) plan in order. amatis Networks have just reviewed our DR Plan as part of the ISO27001 accreditation.
Here are a few things to consider for your BC/DR plan:
If you run all your applications in house it may be worth considering how you currently back this data up. Is it backed up off site by either a removable/portable disc or indeed tape? What location is this data held at is this secure? Can you, or have you tried to retrieve this data in a simulated disaster?
One option to consider is backing up your data to the cloud. By this we mean backing the data to a trusted third parties discs held in another location. There may be legal or corporate considerations to think about related to where this data is held in the world and how secure the data is.
Hosted PBX (Private Branch Exchange) Telephone System
One of the issues when an event occurs is how to communicate with staff, clients and suppliers. Many companies have moved to operating their telephone system from a hosted environment either with a dedicated virtual PBX or a shared system. Others companies are using on premise PBX equipment.
